    6:00 - 20:00, as often as required. Each individual container is positioned on ground level with the floor only a couple of centimetres above ground, allowing you to revese right up to our containers with your car or truck, making loading and unloading quick and easy.

Rental Agreement

The minimum term is one calendar month, for as long as required, on a month to month basis.

Notice Period

Two weeks (before the end of the month). You can still give notice on the 15th to get out of the contract at the end of the month.

Payment

Payments can be made on a monthly or annual basis via stop orders or internet payment (EFT). Bank fees for cash transfers will be charged on the next invoice.

Locks

Please use your own locks. Blackheath Storage will not safeguard your keys and therefore will have no access to your unit.

FAQ

What can be stored?

Almost anything that can be fitted into the container, except for the following:
perishable or hazardous goods, toxic or radioactive goods, living goods (plants or animals), waste or any other goods which we may deem a risk to yourself or other users of our facility.

What am I not allowed to store in a Blackheath Storage container?

Explosives, hazardous, toxic, radioactive or similar materials. Rotting goods, easily flammable materials, weapons, poison, materials, or materials that may affect others by emitting gases, as well as smuggled, stolen goods, living goods. The client must ensure that the goods stored in the cargo container are dry and do not release any moisture. Stored goods which are damp will become musty and may rot.

How easy is it to access the container?

You can drive your vehicle right up to the entry doors of the container and unload goods directly into the container.

How do I open the container?

You have to start with the right door and turn both long handles at the same time.

What's the climate inside the container?

All storage containers are waterproof with minimal ventilation. The temperature inside the storage container, however, depends on the weather. We recommend therefore not to store any goods, which are very sensitive to cold or heat.

What are your opening hours?

The storage facility may be accessed 6:00 to 20:00 seven days a week.

Is there security?

The facility is fully fenced and patrolled via guards who monitor access.
There is CCTV in the container self storage yard.
Each container has a lock box.

Do I need a padlock?

Yes, bring your own lock. This way nobody else has access to your container.

There are 4 locations for padlocks on each of the vertical lock bars as well as using the lock box which is a special steel box, which shrouds the padlock and prevents interference with bolt croppers, angle grinders, chisels or other methods of forced entry.

What is the minimum rental period?

You can rent a storage unit for as little as a calendar month.

How much do I need to pay if I do not start renting on the 1st day of a month?

We are charging pro-rata for the first month, all other months are charged in full.

Can I pay cash?

No, bank transfer only. 
Bank fees for cash transfers will be charged on the next invoice.

What is the notice period?

You can terminate the lease up to 14 days before the end of the month. You can leave then already by the last day of the same month.

How do I give notice?

Please send us an email stating that you are giving notice. Don't forget to tell us the month you are intending to vacate your container.

What if I need to extend my lease after I have given notice?

Should you wish to extend your notice period please contact us immediately.

Are there any additional costs?

No, but you need to provide your own padlock. A deposit of R1000 is required which will be refunded at the expiration of the lease.

Will I get an invoice?

Yes, we send invoices every month and, if required, an open balance report.

Do I need insurance?

Please organise insurance for your stored goods. We do not take any liabilty for your stored goods.

Is there anybody to help loading and unloading my goods?

Unfortunately there is nobody on-site to assist you.
